1

Prepare Your Excel Workbook

Start with the Excel file that contains the data you want in your report. No special template or format is required.

Format your content the way you want it to appear in Word: cell borders, fonts, background colors, and merged cells all carry over to the output. Charts are captured as high-fidelity images, so make sure they display correctly in Excel first.

2

Sign In and Create a Word Report

Open the GoFixly task pane and sign in. See Getting Started if you haven't installed the add-in yet. Click New Report on the ribbon, or open the Build tab and use the report switcher, to create a new Word report definition.

3

Add Your Content

With the report active, select cells or a chart in Excel and click the matching ribbon button: Title, Comment, Table, Chart, or Picture. Each addition appears in the Content list, grouped by worksheet.

Not sure what to include? Click Find with AI in the Build tab and it will scan the active sheet and suggest content for you, with an Apply All to accept everything at once.

4

Arrange the Order

The document follows your workbook's worksheet tab order, sheet by sheet. Within each worksheet's group, drag content items to set the order they appear on the page, cover material first, supporting detail after.

5

Configure Output Settings

Open Report settings and fill in the required fields: File Name, Cover Page Template, Title, Author Name, and Author Email. Optional fields include Subtitle, Organization Name, and Date. Turn on Generate AI Executive Summary if you want a written summary alongside the document.

6

Review and Generate

Worksheets with a layout GoFixly can't parse are flagged in the Content list before you can generate. Fix those in Excel first. When everything checks out, click Generate Report.

GoFixly processes your selections, preserves formatting at the cell level, and produces a Word document. Find it in the History tab once the job completes.

Validate your layouts. GoFixly supports 15 layout patterns. Checking your selections against these patterns before generating avoids unexpected results. Need PowerPoint instead? Read the Excel to PowerPoint guide, or see report automation best practices.
