The Build Tab

Where you create report definitions, configure their settings, add content, and generate the final file.

Browse documentation

The Build tab is the core of GoFixly. Every Word report or PowerPoint deck starts here as a report definition: a named container for settings and content that you fill in, then generate. The ribbon's content buttons, Title, Comment, Table, Chart, Picture, stay disabled until a report is active, so this is always where you'll start.

A freshly created report, before any content has been added.

Report Switcher

The dropdown at the top of the Build tab lists every report definition in the workbook, each tagged Word or PowerPoint with its current content count. From here you can rename a report (gear icon), duplicate it, or delete it. If you don't have a report yet, the tab shows “Create a report to start adding content” with New Word Report and New Presentation buttons. That's the same action as the ribbon's New Report / New Deck buttons.

Report Settings

Expand Report settings (or Presentation settings for a deck) to configure the output. Fields marked required must be filled in before you can generate:

Adding Content

With a report active, select something in Excel, a cell, a range, a chart, a shape, and use the matching ribbon button: Title, Comment, Table, Chart, or Picture. Each addition shows up immediately in the Content list below, grouped by worksheet.

Don't want to select everything by hand? Click Find with AI in the Content section header. It scans the active worksheet and suggests content to add, with Apply, Navigate, and Dismiss on each suggestion, plus an Apply All to accept everything at once.

Every content item in the list can be renamed inline, dragged to reorder within its worksheet group, or removed. Click the eye icon to jump straight to that selection in Excel. Tables have an extra toggle for whether empty columns are removed or kept in the output. Use Expand All / Collapse All to manage long lists, or Delete All to clear a report and start over.

If a worksheet's layout doesn't match one of GoFixly's supported patterns, it's flagged in the list. Fix the layout in Excel (see sheet validation) before generating.

Generating

Once settings are complete and every sheet validates, the Generate Report (or Generate Presentation) button at the bottom of the tab becomes active. Open its menu for Generate multiple reports… to generate several report definitions from the same workbook in one batch. When generation finishes, GoFixly switches you to the History tab to download the result.
